HOW TO PREPARE FOR POST-GRAD DURING WINTER BREAK

Aced your finals? Check. Home for the holidays? Check. Time for some relaxation, hot cocoa and gingerbread cookies? In progress!

During winter break, you may run across quite a bit of extra downtime you don’t have during the academic year. So, while you’re sipping on your hot cocoa and waiting for your gingerbread cookies to finish baking, use this opportunity to get ahead on preparations for post-grad life.

  • Polish your resume

  • Network

Is there someone in your hometown who works in your desired profession? Make plans to grab coffee one day during break and get to know them better. Networking is the number one way to find a job and grow in your career. Be sure to ask questions about their day-to-day job duties and advice they have to give.

  • Job Search

Get ahead on your job search! Many organizations hire college graduates in the spring. You’d be surprised how many students land a job before graduation—and that could be you! Check out LinkedIn for open positions in your industry. Want to stay local or move across the country? Narrow your search by searching your desired location.
