The Fraternal Government Relations Coalition (FGRC) is looking for outstanding campus and chapter leaders to travel to Washington, D.C. to advocate for legislation that is important to the success of fraternity and sorority organizations across the country. This opportunity provides students with the unique opportunity to experience the nation's capital in a new way through direct interaction in the legislative process.
The Congressional visits will take place in Washington, D.C on April 8-10, 2019. During the visits, students will advocate to protect the fraternity and sorority experience and students’ rights to freely associate with a single-sex organization. Students should not apply if they do not feel comfortable advocating on these legislative issues that are priorities for the FGRC.
Alpha Gam is seeking members who possess some or all of the following characteristics:
- Live (or have lived) in Alpha Gam chapter housing or are from chapters trying to establish fraternal housing on campus
- Have extensive campus and/or community leadership experience
- Possess a basic knowledge, experience or interest in politics and government
- Preference is given to juniors and seniors
- Are U.S. residents
The tentative schedule of events for the 2019 FGRC Hill Visits is as follows:

- Monday, April 8 (afternoon): Afternoon training beginning at 3 p.m. for student participants.
- Tuesday, April 9: Training for student participants in the morning/joint training for students and alumni in the afternoon.
- Wednesday, April 10: Students and alumni participate in the annual lobbying day on Capitol Hill and the Fraternity and Sorority Political Action Committee dinner that evening.
- Thursday, April 11: Students travel back to campus.
If selected, students will be expected to participate in prep work leading up to the training sessions and visits, which will include participating in a webinar to learn more about the FGRC’s legislative priorities. It is important that students are aware that they will miss at least 3-4 days of school that week and should be prepared to plan accordingly with their professors during that time.
To apply, please fill out the application by 5 p.m. EST on Friday, November 9. Click here to apply. Travel expenses to Washington, D.C. will be covered by the Fraternity for all selected attendees.
Alpha Gamma Delta has developed a comprehensive membership development program called the Alpha Gamma Delta Experience. The Alpha Gamma Delta Experience consists of three components:
THE ALPHA EXPERIENCE
The goal of the Alpha Experience is to help new members acclimate to Fraternity life and set expectations for membership. With an emphasis on sisterhood, the Alpha Experience consists of five key programs: Scholarship, Values, Life Balance, Operations and History.
THE GAMMA EXPERIENCE
The Gamma Experience is focused on individual and chapter growth and provides members the opportunity to learn more about themselves and develop skills that will impact them for a lifetime. Throughout the two-year program, members discuss the relevance of each line of the Alpha Gamma Delta Purpose in today's society and participate in group and individual activities surrounding these lines. Individual reflection is also a component of this program.
THE DELTA EXPERIENCE
The Delta Experience was created to help seniors navigate the transition from collegiate to alumnae life. Through senior-specific activities with local alumnae chapters/clubs and Junior Circles, the Delta Experience allows seniors to prepare for life after college as they reflect on their collegiate experience with activities such as Senior Recognition Week.
Together, these components offer all Alpha Gamma Deltas the necessary tools to become strong, progressive women who make a positive difference in the lives of others. The Fraternity is confident that the Alpha Gamma Delta Experience will benefit our members by providing the framework for lifelong, personal and professional development.
Resources for these programs can be found on myAlphaGam.

The 2018 scholarship applications for LeaderShape and UIFI are closed.
THE LEADERSHAPE INSTITUTE
The LeaderShape Institute is a four day educational experience designed to give young adults the means to become extraordinary leaders. The mission of LeaderShape is to transform the world by increasing the number of people who lead with integrity™ and a healthy disregard for the impossible. Participants don't come to LeaderShape to learn how to run effective meetings or get elected to office - they come to learn how to change the world by working toward a vision that is grounded in their deepest values. It is a dynamic, challenging and exciting week that inspires and impacts not only the participants, but the communities and organizations they will go on to lead. Visit AFLV LeaderShape to learn more.
UIFI is a five day institute that brings together Greek men and women from across North America to explore, define and enhance their leadership skills, personal awareness and commitment to their fraternity or sorority and grow to expect values based action from themselves and those they lead. Participants must be willing to discuss how they are living their Ritual, debate the issues that threaten the future of Greek life and develop a plan of action to make a positive change within their respective organization. Several sessions in Bloomington, Indiana, are available through May, June and July. Visit UIFI to learn more.
Alpha Gamma Delta partners with EverFi to bring our members GreekLifeEdu®. This is an online prevention program designed to meet the needs of college students. This program challenges our members’ beliefs about alcohol, hazing and sexual assault while enabling them to make positive and healthy life choices.
The completion of GreekLifeEdu is a requirement for membership, and new members must complete the course prior to Initiation. While only part one of the course is required, International Headquarters strongly encourages all new members to complete part two for their own personal development.
At the start of each semester, Alpha Gamma Delta International Headquarters will provide each chapter’s Alpha Experience Coordinator with information on managing their chapter’s GreekLifeEdu. New members will receive information from their Alpha Experience Coordinator on how to create their own login so that they can create an account and complete the GreekLifeEdu course. If you need help with your login information, contact us here.
