Alpha Gamma Delta has made a commitment to academic excellence for every member and chapter. The Fraternity has set goals to ensure that academic achievement remains a priority. A new member must have a current grade point average of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent to be initiated.
Each member must work to maintain the chapter's scholarship requirement to remain in Good Standing. As of June 1, 2014, each chapter must maintain a 2.9 overall grade point average to remain in Good Standing with the International Fraternity.
Each chapter has an officer committed to the scholastic strength of its members. They encourage each member through programming and meetings to be their academic best!

Marguerite Shepard Initiative:
Marguerite Shepard was one of Alpha Gamma Delta’s founders and showed a true commitment to and appreciation of academics. As a result, we use her namesake as the umbrella term for all of the wonderful strides we are making towards supporting our members scholastically. We offer a variety of scholastic recognitions for both our members and our chapters, celebrating members whose term GPA range from 3.14 to 4.0, and chapters whose overall term GPA range from 3.14 to 3.5 and above.
