ACADEMICS

Alpha Gamma Delta has made a commitment to academic excellence for every member and chapter. The Fraternity has set goals to ensure that academic achievement remains a priority. A new member must have a current grade point average of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent to be initiated.

Each member must work to maintain the chapter's scholarship requirement to remain in Good Standing. As of June 1, 2014, each chapter must maintain a 2.9 overall grade point average to remain in Good Standing with the International Fraternity.

Each chapter has an officer committed to the scholastic strength of its members. They encourage each member through programming and meetings to be their academic best!

Marguerite Shepard Initiative:

As one of Alpha Gamma Delta’s 11 Founders, Marguerite Shepard, showed a great commitment to both her academics and the Fraternity. She graduated magna cum laude and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She then went on to become Alpha Gam’s first Grand Vice President and then second Grand President. Her great influence was the inspiration for the Marguerite Shepard Programwhich serves as the umbrella program for Alpha Gamma Delta’s official term-based scholastic recognition. We offer a variety of scholastic recognitions for both our members and our chapters, celebrating members whose term GPA range from 3.14 to 4.0, and chapters whose overall term GPA range from 3.14 to 3.5 and above.

The most visible component of the Marguerite Shepard Programisits scholastic recognition.
