Sigma–University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana Renovation

The following post was written by guest blogger Emily White, Theta Omega–The University of South Carolina, Business Development Manager for the Fraternity Housing Corporation.

Sigma–University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana joined the Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity Housing Corporation in spring 2018. In preparation for the chapter’s centennial celebration this October, the FHC worked with the chapter to complete a first-floor renovation of the Sigma Chapter house, commonly referred to as “the castle.”

To bring back some of the homes more traditional elements, most of the carpet was removed to unveil existing wood floors which were refinished to accent the dark wood trim. The walls were repainted a light gray to give a clean look and make branded items like pillows and custom rose wingback chairs pop. New light fixtures brighten the space and provide focal points in each room.

The powder room underwent the most changes. To make the space feel chic, the FHC staff removed an existing coat rack and hand drying equipment and installed Kate Spade gold and white rose wallpaper. The tile was replaced with a Carrara white and gray marble porcelain tile.

From the Purpose wall in the dining room and custom Alpha Gamma Delta embroidered pillow cases to the reupholstered rose wingback chairs and circle chandeliers, special touches throughout the facility help the space embody the Alpha Gamma Delta brand.
