EPSILON ZETA WELCOMES HOME MISS ARKANSAS 2018

The following post was written by guest blogger, Savannah Cooper, Epsilon Zeta—Arkansas State University.

Members of Alpha Gamma Delta strive to be women of excellence, so when a sister makes an accomplishment as impressive as earning the title of Miss Arkansas, the Epsilon Zeta chapter sisters had to come together to celebrate.

On June 16, Claudia Raffo, Epsilon Zeta—Arkansas State University, won the title Miss Arkansas 2018. A woman of high character, compassion and grace, Claudia also displays great leadership skills. She served as Epsilon Zeta’s Chapter President before graduating in May with a degree in chemistry and minor in business. We all love and respect her dearly, so when she was crowned the new Miss Arkansas, we were ecstatic!

On August 5, we hosted a celebration for Claudia at the chapter house. Serving chocolate covered strawberries and punch, we spent the evening catching up and posing for pictures with Claudia behind a backdrop worthy of a red-carpet event. More than 200 people, including alumnae and their families, came to the event to meet Claudia and wish her well before heading off to Atlantic City, New Jersey, for the Miss America pageant. Jonesboro Occasions, a local magazine, provided copies of their latest issue—which featured Claudia on the cover—for her to autograph and give to attendees.

Also in attendance were the four other chapter sisters who competed alongside Claudia in the Miss Arkansas pageant, Miss Greater Jonesboro Emily Doggett, Miss North Central Arkansas Samantha Shelley, Miss River Delta Ellie Stafford and Miss Arkansas State University Cori Keller.

Claudia is one of many Alpha Gams who actively lives out our Purpose: “To possess high ideas and to attain somewhat unto them.”

Through her example, many women in the Epsilon Zeta chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta have been inspired to chase their goals and work hard to accomplish their dreams. We are so proud to call her our sister.
