1. The Alamo
Did you have to watch the movie, The Alamo, in your middle school history class? You can visit this historic landmark of the infamous 1836 battle for Texan independence from Mexico.
2. The River Walk
Walk along the banks of the San Antonio River or catch a ride on a river taxi to explore restaurants, shops, attractions and nightlife.
3. The Main Plaza
The historic heart of San Antonio, people gather at the Main Plaza to enjoy a variety of entertainment. Be sure to check out the San Fernando Cathedral—the country’s oldest cathedral and beautiful site.
4. La Villita and Market Square
If you want to experience San Antonio’s cultural atmosphere, visit La Villita and Market Square. With so many shops, you’ll want to treat yourself to some custom jewelry and handmade threads. Or maybe you’ll find a one-of-a-kind keepsake to bring back home to a friend.
5. San Antonio Missions National Historical Park
For a deeper look in history, visit the San Antonio Missions Historic Park. Built in the 1700s, the Missions were outposts established to spread the Catholic doctrine among Native Americans. The Park includes four out of the five Spanish frontiers: Concepción, San José, San Juan and Espada. The fifth mission, The Alamo, is owned by the State of Texas.
6. Majestic Theatre
Do you have an appreciation for Fine Arts? If so, catch a show at the Majestic Theatre! A great place for a romantic date night, the Majestic Theatre seats 2,264 people and features concerts, Broadway musicals, comedians and more.
7. Tower of the Americas
Make your way to the Tower of the Americas for the best view of San Antonio. Standing 750 feet tall, the Tower of the Americas will give you a taste of fine dining. Tickets include unlimited access to the Observation Deck, Flags Over Texas and the 4D Theater Ride.
