5 STEPS TO MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR RECRUITMENT EXPERIENCE

• Be Prepared
  • Read all the information provided by your College or University Panhellenic. It should contain important information such as suggested attire, as well as financial and philanthropic information for specific chapters.
  • Plan your outfits and accessories. Don’t scramble at the last minute to throw an outfit together—it only adds unnecessary stress.
  • Take care of your feet! Primary Recruitment is not the time to break in a new pair of shoes. If you have a long walk between event locations, consider taking comfortable shoes to wear during your hike.

• Keep an Open Mind
  • Research chapters at the local and inter/national level. Social media and the organization’s chapter and headquarters’ websites are a great place to start, but don’t let this completely influence your decision before you walk through the door!
  • Your goal for each event you attend should be to make a personal connection. Joining a chapter that feels like home is about more than deciding who has a great photo pre-set and Instagram feed.
  • Although you can’t join multiple organizations, you may meet amazing women who will soon be your Panhellenic sisters and great friends after Bid Day. Positive Panhellenic relationships keep the sorority experience strong for everyone!
• Confidence is Key
  • Be your confident and authentic self. The women you meet in each chapter are so excited to get to know you and want to hear about what makes you, you.
  • Hold your head high and don’t sweat the details. Everyone else is as nervous as you are, so find comfort in knowing you’re all in this together.
• Ask Good Questions
  • Think about what you value and what you want to get from your sorority experience. Think about questions to ask that will help you make the best decision. Need to polish your conversation skills? Check these tips.
• Have FUN!
  • This will likely by a one-time experience, so enjoy it! If this is out of your comfort zone, embrace it. If you have been waiting for this for a while, cherish it.
  • It can be stressful, but just remember to make the most of it and trust the process.
