WHAT IS EMPOWER?

The Empower path of the Epsilon Pi Journey is a community-oriented opportunity for Alpha Gams who aspire to lead with Purpose and want to grow personally and professionally while connecting with Alpha Gams from other chapters. Empower is generously funded by the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. 

COHORT-STYLE LEARNING Expand

Cohort style learning increases motivation, helps participants build a professional network and serves as a support group for participants. Cohorts also support how we know adult learners gain knowledge. Through cohort-style learning, participants will learn together with the guidance of an Alpha Gam alumna facilitator. This approach is different than education provided in the past. Rather than providing education in a lecture style format with the simple goal of recitation, this research backed approach provides the opportunity for authentic engagement and true leadership growth.

CURRICULUM Expand

Members will learn skills to be strong and intentional leaders in their chapters, communities and future careers by exploring leadership best practices and culminating in a capstone experience. 

Empower will follow the five practices of leadership as described in The Student Leadership Challenge:

• Challenge the Process 
• Enable Others 
• Encourage the Heart 

Skills acquired will enhance members’ ability to demonstrate Alpha Gam’s Talent Multipliers:

EMPOWER INSTITUTE Expand

The Institute is a capstone experience for participants to further develop leadership skills in a weekend-long, in-person opportunity. Participants will hear from Keynote speakers, spend time in their cohorts and build lasting connections. 

The Empower Institute will yield the following outcomes: 

• Participants will define their personal vision. 
• Participants will define their personal leadership style. 
• Participants will develop an action plan for when they return to their campus/community. 
• Participants will identify strategies to set goals and build relationships.

PARTICIPATE IN EMPOWER

Alpha Gam is seeking exceptional collegians who want to gain more leadership skills and connect with their Alpha Gamma Delta peers. 

 Empower participants will: 

• Explore personal and shared values. 
• Discuss influence building. 
• Explore innovation and risk taking. 
• Develop influence and relationship building skills. 
• Practice ways to celebrate and appreciate others.

FACILITATE EMPOWER

Alpha Gam is seeking alumnae who are dynamic professionals and are ready to lead a small group of collegiate women on their leadership journey. 

Facilitators will: 

• Increase their facilitation skills. 
• Build relationships and mentorships with participants. 
• Give back to an organization that has given them so much. 
• Participate in short-term Alpha Gam involvement! 
• Fill their Alpha Gam bucket. 

 Facilitator responsibilities: 

• Attend facilitator training and connections. 
• Manage monthly meetings with cohort.
