International Council

The Fraternity’s Constitution states that the governing body of the Fraternity is International Council. International Council is comprised of the International Officers, who are alumnae elected to office biennially by alumnae and collegiate voting members of the Fraternity in Good Standing. International Council meets at least annually. Meetings are usually held at International Headquarters. Each area of the Fraternity is reviewed, discussed and evaluated. Trends are noted, recommendations made, action taken and assignments for the implementation of decisions given to the proper officer.

International Council is responsible for the overall operation of the Fraternity and acts as the governing body during the interim between Conventions. It appoints all Standing and Special Committees, Volunteer Service Team members and Chapter Advisors and employs the Executive Director. The International President is responsible for serving as President of the Corporation for the purposes of New York State law. She serves as the presiding officer at the Annual Meeting of the Fraternity, maintains responsibility for the implementation of policies established by International Council and performs other duties incident to the office of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation as International Council may prescribe. All other International Officers perform duties that the International President and/or International Council prescribe. The International Vice President-Alumnae shall perform the duties of the International President in her absence, inability to serve or at her call.
