FAQ
I thought I paid my lifetime dues—how is this different from Life Membership Alumnae Dues (LMAD)?
At the time of initiation, each member paid Life Membership Alumnae Dues (LMAD) to her alumnae chapter. This money is given to the alumnae chapter for:
- Publication of the chapter newsletter
- Alumnae development
- Advisor recruitment
- Funding an alumnae president or chapter advisors expense for Convention, if needed
To avoid confusion over LMAD and Alumnae Dues, International Council voted to change the name of LMAD to Alumnae Chapter Fee (ACF) beginning June 1, 2000, to more accurately reflect its use.
Are alumnae dues different than my local chapter dues?
Yes. Alumnae dues are voluntary and provide funding for the Fraternity's Operating Fund.
Arent there funds that are already available?
The Fraternity is fiscally sound and does have funds from which it can draw money in order to supplement the Operating Fund. However, some of these funds have restricted use, for which operations do not qualify. In certain cases, funds could be transferred to the Operating Fund, but we would have to pay significant taxes on those funds.
