Alpha Gamma Delta is proud to offer sisters a variety of opportunities for continuing involvement in the Fraternity and numerous occasions for valuable interaction between alumnae and collegiate members. Fraternity programs like Junior Circles, the Distinguished Citizens Awards and International Reunion Day are driven by the desire to strengthen the Fraternity and to provide satisfying experiences for its members.
The programs administered by the Fraternity Programs Team have a wide range of goals and purposes, including alumnae involvement, sisterhood, mentoring, the development of alumnae and collegiate relationships, membership expansion, Fraternity visibility and member recognition. To learn more about the Fraternity Programs currently offered by Alpha Gamma Delta, read the short summaries below.
Adopt-a-Chapter
The Adopt-a-Chapter program provides alumnae support to collegiate chapters that do not have the benefit of a local alumnae chapter or club. Adopting alumnae communicate regularly with their collegiate chapter, showing the collegiate women that alumnae do care about their younger sisters and want to connect in a special way. Alumnae offer a level of support they feel comfortable providing, which might include financial assistance, visits, care packages, awards or encouraging cards or notes. This program also serves to demonstrate to collegians the ways in which alumnae continue to be involved with the Fraternity long after the collegiate years are over. Alpha Gam Always
Alpha Gam Always is a program designed to help increase involvement in alumnae chapters, alumnae clubs and Junior Circles. The focus of the program is recruitment of alumnae members for the alumnae groups and retention of current members. Alpha Gam Always is usually celebrated as an Alpha Gam Always party in the early fall. Guidelines and suggestions for planning a successful event may be found by logging on to the Member Services section of the Fraternity website. For more information, e-mail dfp@vst.alphagammadelta.org.
Alumnae Event Programming
Great ideas from Alpha Gamma Delta's alumnae chapters and clubs are gathered by the Fraternity Programs team and shared to encourage and promote successful events and activities for all alumnae groups. This list of ideas may be found by logging on to the Member Services section of the Fraternity website. For more information, e-mail dfp@vst.alphagammadelta.org.
Alumnae Initiates
The Fraternity's Constitution and Standing Rules provides for the initiation of qualified women who do not hold membership in another National Panhellenic Conference or National PanHellenic Council Fraternity. Alumnae initiates are a practical and viable way to increase alumnae membership and participation in alumnae chapters and clubs. Alumnae Initiation may be considered when local alumnae membership is not adequate to provice support to a collegiate chapter. Distinguished Citizen Awards
Distinguished Citizen Awards are presented to individual members for exceptional and outstanding contributions in their professions or in civic, organizational, cultural or charitable work. This award is a means of honoring outstanding members who have brought recognition to the Fraternity through their efforts. These awards are presented at International Convention. For more information, e-mail fps3@vst.alphagammadelta.org.
International Reunion Day
International Reunion Day, or IRD, is a day set aside annually to renew the bonds of sisterhood, to develop an understanding of the true meaning of Fraternity, to promote closer associations among collegiate and alumnae members and to develop and strengthen Alpha Gam friendships. IRD can be celebrated as a brunch, a luncheon, a community service event or any other activity that reflects the purpose of the event. The traditional day for IRD to be held is the third Saturday in April, but it may be scheduled for another time in April or early spring, depending on the needs of the local membership. An IRD theme is announced by International Council each year, and members are encouraged to use this theme when planning an event. Click here to learn more about the theme for IRD 2008. For more information, e-mail dfp@vst.alphagammadelta.org
Junior Circle
The Junior Circle program was developed to keep younger alumnae involved in Alpha Gamma Delta. Junior Circles provide a transition between collegiate membership and alumnae involvement for those alumnae sisters who are primarily under the age of 35. Rededication Service
The Rededication Service is a meaningful event that alumnae share with graduating collegians and those collegiate members in Good Standing who are leaving college permanently. This ritual service is proof to Alpha Gam collegians of the never-ending circle of sisterhood and of the lifetime commitment that all members share in Alpha Gamma Delta. For more information, e-mail dfp@vst.alphagammadelta.org.
Rosebuds
The Rosebuds program was created to foster strong adult-girl relationships and to provide fun activities for Alpha Gamma Delta members, their daughters and other young family members and friends. The program also offers Alpha Gams an easy way to stay involved in the Fraternity during the busy childbearing years. To learn more about Rosebuds, click here . For more information, e-mail fps5@vst.alphagammadelta.org.
Rose Sisters
The Rose Sister program was developed for those sisters who live in areas with no alumnae chapter or club, collegiate chapter or Junior Circle. Click here to learn more about the Rose Sisters program. For more information, e-mail fps1@vst.alphagammadelta.org.
